How To Connect WhatsApp To Serlzo Using The Meta API
Connect an official WhatsApp Business account to Serlzo through Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API, with either a virtual number or your own.
Before you start
There's one important rule to keep in mind: you must connect using a phone number that isn't already attached to another WhatsApp account.
If you try to use a number that already has WhatsApp linked to it, Meta will disconnect that number from wherever it's currently active - whether that's your phone or any other device. To avoid losing an existing WhatsApp connection, use a fresh number.
Don't have a spare number? No problem - Meta can assign you a virtual number during setup.
Step 1: Open Integrations in Serlzo
Log into your Serlzo dashboard, scroll down the left-hand navigation, and click Integrations. Select Tools to see everything available to connect, then find WhatsApp Official Cloud API in the list.
Click Connect with OAuth to open the setup modal, then click Start Setup. This redirects you to Meta Business Manager and launches the connection flow.
From here you have two paths, depending on whether you're using a virtual number or your own existing number.
Option A: Connect using a virtual number
If you don't have a spare number to use, Meta can assign you a virtual one.
Start the Meta flow
On the Meta connection screen, click Continue, then choose the option to use a display name with a virtual number instead of a phone number. You'll see a prompt saying additional verification is required - click Next.
Select your business portfolio (this must already be verified). When asked which WhatsApp Business Account to use, choose Create a WhatsApp Business Account - skip any previously connected numbers if you want a new virtual one - then click Next.
Enter your business details
Fill in your business name (auto-filled if already verified), your business category (for example Professional Services), and your country and website (auto-filled if already set up in your business portfolio).
Click Next. Meta will verify the business information, which may take a moment.
Confirm and finish
Review the summary screen showing your business name and account details, then click Confirm. Meta connects your account and reserves a virtual phone number for you.
Once successful, you'll see a confirmation screen noting that you can send up to 5 messages per day within a rolling 24-hour period. Click Finish to return to Serlzo.
Finishing the connection in Serlzo
Back in Serlzo, you'll see the number or numbers associated with your account, including the new virtual number you just added. Click Connect next to the number you want to use.
Once Meta's embedded signup completes, you'll be prompted to create a registration PIN. This can be any 6-digit number you'll remember. Enter it, then click Activate.
Note: sometimes Meta needs a few extra seconds to verify the number on their end. If you get an error immediately after activating, don't worry - it usually just means Meta is still processing verification in the background. Click Activate Number again after a moment and it should connect successfully.
Once connected, go back to Integrations in Serlzo. The status will now show Connected, and you can view details like the verification status and account name. From this screen you can also change your WhatsApp display name, open the WhatsApp Manager directly (this links out to Meta), or set up an auto-reply message.
Option B: Connect using your own phone number
If you already have a verified phone number you'd like to use instead of a virtual one, start the connection flow the same way: Integrations, then Tools, then WhatsApp Official Cloud API, then Connect with OAuth and Start Setup.
When prompted, enter your phone number - or select it if it's already added to your Meta Business Manager account - and click Next. Choose or create the business account associated with that number, select your business portfolio, then confirm your business category, country, and website. These will be pre-filled if they're already set up.
Click Next to let Meta verify the submitted information, review all the details on the summary screen, then click Confirm to begin connecting your number. Once the connection completes, click Finish to return to Serlzo.
Back in Serlzo, select the number you just connected, then enter your registration PIN to complete setup.
